The Washington Committee on US-Arab Relations will sponsor a one-day seminar on doing business with the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries and Iraq on Tues., Nov. 7 at the Univ. of Washington Student Union Building (HUB), Room 200. The event is co-sponsored by the Middle East Center at the Univ. of Washington, the International Trade Administration, US Dept. of Commerce and the Washington State Dept. of Trade and Economic Development. A conference entitled "Apartheid's Arc and the Palestinian Uprising: Making the Connections" will be held on Nov. 11 at the Massachusetts College of Art's Tower Auditorium, 625 Huntington Avenue in Boston. Speakers will include Professors Ibrahim Abu-Lughod of Northwestern University and Noam Chomsky of MIT, Israeli Foreign Affairs editor Jane Hunter, Bernard Mills, former director of the UN Relief and Works Agency in the Gaza Strip, and others. Lecture Series

The Smithsonian Institution's Resident Associate Program in Washington, DC is offering a lecture series entitled "The Middle East and the United States: Current Issues." The US Institute for Peace offers three types of fellowships through its Jennings Randolph Program for International Peace. The Institute for Palestine Studies and Kuwait University have announced that, effective with the Fall 1989 issue, the Journal of Palestine Studies will be published on their behalf by the University of California, which will also handle marketing and circulation. JPS editors will retain full control over the content of the journal.

The Center for Arabic Study Abroad at the American University in Cairo offers fellowships for summer and full-year Arabic language study.
